Plantation Shutters on Sliders - A close up view

I told you guys that I would share more informative pictures of my new plantation shutters that were installed on the  sliding doors of my two bedrooms.

(Not that I sleep in two rooms... one is a guest room.)
(Not that it's used that much)
(I have a two night rule.)
(After that, they can go home, or check into a hotel)
(My friends and family think I'm nuts.)
(But, I'm an equal opportunity misanthrope.)
(If you don't know what a misanthrope is,
that's why they have dictionary.com!)

Anyway......
Here's another view of the shutters from the pool looking into my bedroom......

See how there are two sets of shutters?
They open like French doors.
(I didn't bother to put a camera light in the bedroom, that's why it looks like a black hole. Some days I'm lazier than others. (which is a shame, 'cuz on my good days, I'm not exactly a bundle of energy)).

Here's a shot from the bedroom looking into the pool area.......

This shows how both pairs of shutters hinge open.....

They can fold back on the other pair, to leave the door open to the pool.....

I hoped this helped all you guys out there, struggling to figure out how to make your @#$ ugly sliding doors prettier. I used Home Depot, but there are lots of places who sell and install these babies. Mine are plastic, so they won't warp in the south Florida humidity.
I never thought that I would be embracing plastic over wood.....
Oy Vey!!!
but they look the same and are more practical.

I spent several hours today taking pictures of my living room, so that's what I'm going to blog about next time.

As for right now.....
It's dinner time, and
NO ONE
gets between me and my food.

I think the two night rule is fabulous! My mom, who was quite a character, used to say that "guests are like fish, they stink after 2 days" or something like that...
Anyway, the shutters are so clever, and how cool is it that you get to look out at your pretty oasis from your very own bedroom, what a luxury!

When living in South Fla..I had to go with the faux wood shutters due to the possibility of warping due to the humidity..so you definitely made the perfect choice...They look beautiful..

When we finish our greatroom we will replace a large bay window with two side windows flanking french doors. This would be a great option as it does get a lot of afternoon sun. Great idea!

Your plantation shutters look amazing.

I am wanting to get them for our house as well, but am struggling with deciding what material to go for :(

The supplier I contacted said that they stopped selling PVC shutters because they had too many problems about them :(

Aluminium ones get too hot, and aren't recommended for indoor use...

Mdf is, well Mdf....

And wood, breathes and therefore cracks and the paint would probably peel.

Can't win, really :(
