Anything for a Friend (Working for Free.....)

If you've been following my blog....
(and if you haven't, shame on you.....)
you know that I've been doing needle point on demand
for my buddy Kris.
I've done chairs in her living room.....
Monograms for her and her hubby
 A chair in her upstairs hall....
A nice saying, that she forced me against my will to sew....
And then we came to her
dining room.......
She thought it would just be fine and dandy if
EACH FAMILY MEMBER
had their own....
NEEDLE POINTED CHAIR!!!!
Luckily she only has two children, or I'd still be sewing.....

We found wonderful
 gothicky
(I just made that word up!!!!)
 looking chairs for a throne like effect for the king and queen of the house.
I had them covered in the same paisley velvet I used on the walls.
And then I came to the back.....
What to sew, what to sew......
Kris and Keith?????
His and Hers?????
Lord and Mistress?????
Payer and Payee?????
No No No!!!!
Kris had a gooder idea.
Mommy and Daddy.....
'Cuz that's their role and place in their home.
So being the obliging friend that I is,
that's what I done did.....
I did Kris's first, 'cuz she's my buddy.....
Then I did her better half.....
If you want to copy them, here are some close ups.

I used gold metallic thread for the lettering.

Then we came to her kids' chairs.....
They got smaller ones that sit in the corners.
Not that her kids have to sit in the corners.....
Just the chairs.
I think she lets the kids actually sit at the table....
She's a very enlightened Mommy.
So both of the smaller chairs can go with the kids when they grow up....
If that ever happens......
We're still waiting.......
And waiting......
And waiting.............
Guess what the oldest one's nick name is??????
Do you need a hint?????
It's a flower!!!!!
No, I'm not going to tell you!!!!!

Kris's youngest is a boy.
Well.....
Actually he's now a young man.....
Sort of.....
For privacy reasons I can't tell you his name.
Just in case you can guess, here's a blow up for the pattern.

I have a feeling that if Kris can think of another place for a needlepoint chair, she won't hesitate to let me know.
So that's if for now, campers.....

English Country Dining Room a la Betsy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Continuing on with my buddy Kris's dining room.....
I suspected that I had potentially found a friend,
 when
she believed me about
this chandelier....
We were still working on her living room at the time, but when you find something unusual and stunning,
you gots to grab it.
The reason I felt we couldn't pass this piece up
 was because of its scale.
Usually chandeliers this detailed and fancy schmany are larger,
 and rooms this size can't handle them.....
Sooooooo.......
When we were looking for somethings for her living room in a local antique store,
 and I saw this baby,
I knew we had to grab it.
Now the problem with this.....
Is I sometimes feel my clients think it's just a sales technique to get them to release their tight hold on their moolah......
Kris, bless her gullible trusting heart,
believed me!!!!!
Check out the details!!!!!
Of course, I had to  have custom shades made for the #$% thing.....
We still congratulate each other on this find.
We have never seen another come close
 to how nice this one is in this size.
If you are a fellow antiquer....
You know.....
Just 'cuz you see one now,
doesn't mean
you'll ever see another one again!!!
Then, the next year, when we were actually working on this room.....
We found the table.
It weren't cheap.....no no no no no!!!!!
But once again.....
 I had never seen another like it, though I'm sure some of my intrepid readers have.....
Check out the legs on this baby!!!!
Her hubby wasn't so sure about splurging on this,
but I looked DEEP into Kris's eyes.....
and assured her.....
SHE'D NEVER REGRET BUYING THIS BEHEMOTH!!!!!
At this point in time.....
It has served its purpose well....
through Thanksgivings, Christmases.....
Hey!!!
WAIT JUST ONE MINUTE!!!!
Now that I think about this.....
I'VE NEVER EATEN AT THIS #$% TABLE!!!!!
Although they do let me eat in the kitchen.....
Which I will be showing you guys next week or the week after.....
On Thursday, I will continue writing about stuff in this room.
'cuz that's what I do.....
write about stuff....
City Cottage Dining Room
OK campers.....
We've explored my buddy Kris's living room.....
her stairs.....
her upstairs hall.....
now on to the....
DINING ROOM!!!!!
dump da dum dummmmm da dummmmmm!!!!
(That was supposed to be a flourish of horns....could you tell?????)
I had trouble shooting this room because of all the dark colors.
I brought my photography lights over to Kris's house,
carried them into the hall,
and was too lazy to set them up and plug them in.
I was originally hired to do Kris's living room.
If she had realized the hurricane I would become in her quiet life, I don't know if she would have picked up the phone on that historic day she called me.
No use crying over spilled milk.
The damage is done,
WE ARE NOW BESTIES!!!!
(where was I?????)
Oh, yeah, her living room.
So after I was done doing the living room,
I guess her husband, Keith, liked it,
 'cuz he stood in the hall and pointed at the living room....
then her pointed at the dining room and said.....
"I want this room (the dining room)
 to look at good as that room (the living room)!!!!!
Well.....
At this point in time the table hockey game had been move into the dining room and held the place of honor,
 smack dab in the middle.
There was an awful chair rail and some old worn blue bird wallpaper on the walls.
So I says, says I.....
"IT'S GONNA COST YA!!!"
And then I got down to work.
I wish we had before shots, but this was over a decade ago, and I didn't have a digital camera.
Being somewhat brain dead....
(who am I kidding....somewhat....HAH!!!!)
I didn't think to do a close up of the wainscoting detail I designed,
 so I have blown up the picture and it is very fuzzy,
 just like my brain.....
I had the walls covered in the paisley velvet I used on the host and hostess chairs.
This continued the feel of the living room and hall, creating a nice flow of color and pattern through the downstairs.
Here's a shot from the dining room across the hall into the living room.
That's Petey on his bed in the hall.
We moved the bed there while I shot the room so he could keep us company.
He's 17 and likes to be around us.
The stuff to the left of Petey is the crap I moved out of the shot in the dining room.....
and then was too lazy to move it again.
THIS IS A REAL HOME WITH REAL PEOPLE AND REAL LIVES AND REAL STUFF ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!!!
The paisleys in the two rooms are different but complementary.
I am very good at what I do.
YES I AM!!!!!
Here's the shot if I cut out all the messy stuff.....
Even though the rugs are all different patterns, I was able to find three different ones that complement each other.
Here's a shot from the living room across the hall into the dining room....
The blue polka-dot satchel is my camera equipment bag.
Like how I didn't move it out of the shot?????
I am an accomplished blogger!!!!
I take good pictures!!!!!
That's it for today.
I will show more on Tuesday.
Thanksgiving was wonderful, will surprises never cease?????
With one's family, you can never be sure......
I ate a ton.
I weigh a ton.
Oy!!!!
