More Funky Cottage Accessories

Hey!
You wanna see
more of my stuff ?????
In my study, on either side of my little sofa, are a pair of round tables.

I am having a brain fart, as I can't think of what period they are from.
I am guessing that they are probably from the 1920's......
When I saw them in an antique store, they had orange marble tops.
Well, that wasn't going to work.....
Sooooo.....
Since I was getting grossly overcharged....
(I really wanted these,
as they were the perfect style
for what I was trying to accomplish.....)
The guy selling them to me agreed to change the marble to white.....
They have a wonderful trompe l'oiel effect on the apron created with inlaid veneer and staining.....
It gives the effect of recessed niches.....like a large fluting detail.....
The tables also have little pullout shelves, that
I never use!!!!!
But I like knowing they are there.....
that's cuz I am very weird!!!!!
On top of my two tables
I have more stuff!!!!!
(yes, that is an empty frame on the left, I have to put a picture in it.....oops)
The lamps I had made from a pair of antique mercury glass vases.
They have beautiful hand painted roses on them,
so of course I fell in love....

I had my local lamp work room, Blanche P. Fields, make them into lamps, and create the custom shades.
The photo of the lady, is my Great Aunt Etta....
The dogs are Stadffordshire,
They are much snootier than the other dogs, across the room, which I am just about to share with you guys.....
But we first have to look at some stuff on the table on the other side of the sofa......

This plate is a piece of Williamsburg pottery from Virginia, I have absolutely no idea how old it is....
and I don't care.....
it's purty!!!!
The covered bowl is another piece of my mercury glass collection.
I am a sucker for shiny @#$.
OK!! Now we can look at the little bookcase across the room!!!!!
It holds lots more of my absolutely useless stuff!!!!!
I don't know if you've picked up on it yet.....
but I have a leetle problem with acquiring china dogs.
They have spread all over
my @#$ HOUSE!!!!

I have my desk still to reveal,
(whoopee...)
on Tuesday.....
Which is the FIRST TUESDAY OF THE MONTH!!!!!
AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!!!!!
OY! VEY! Q&A TUESDAY!!!!!!!!
So, I'll see you guys then.
I'm looking forward to your questions,
make sure you have some good ones!!!!!

Your room looks gorgeous! I too changed my end tables for French from the 20's and got a little overcharged at my antique shop too.., but that happens when I fall in love with things! I just did it again with my English transferware dishes, lol..I have your same kinda-dog collection, but I love your Staffordshire pugs the best! I had a REAL PUG, 13 years old, until two years ago..he was snooty, but adorable, I miss him still. Have a blessed week.

Hi Betsy,
Love your pair of vintage round tables!the white marble is so pretty and the trompe l'oiel is amazing, what beautiful craftmanship...
Your local lamp room did a sweet job on your revamp of the mercury glass vases into lamps I love the roses too, I'm big on florals..and of course your Great Aunt Etta's photo is beautiful and she looks so proper such a lady of elegance. I think we all have "useless stuff" why not if we like it we buy it and decorate with it..sweet little collection of pups. I enjoyed your post!
Have a sweet day, Elizabeth

Betsy,
Thhank you for the laughter you add to my days. I love how you decorate your homes. When i moved my niece and sister in law kept trying to get me to banish my cabbage rose love seat somewhere upstairs. I showed them, I had frou frou curtains made to match for the living room. Your stuff is not useless, it defines who you are and gives you great joy. How could that be considered worthless?

All those china dogs but no real one? But then you had all those bears and I suspect no real one.

Love the new additions. I too am a dog collector and I see many of my dogs on your shelves. Scotties are one of my passions and the collection has spilled over into schnauzers and the little brown and white dogs that you collect. Aren't they fun!!
I usually don't read every blog I visit but I always read yours. Your a riot!!! Love you sense of humor.

I absolutely love your style of decorating. I so love how you decopaged the rose prints on the room divider. Would you mind sharing where you found those prints?

Okay, my name is Gretchen and I'm a china dog collector too. Why are we so obsessed by needing them? Yours make me want even more.

I love those tables!....I would have bought them with the orange top and changed them out too as the table itself is stunning....Love how the lamp and the screen tie so well together...you are the cool "stuff master" ...Your collections are truly exquisite...you certainly chose "your stuff" carefully with great design in mind....Stuff is good!
