A Seating Area for Guests in the Country

Three more rooms and we're done with Connie's Vermont home.
You probably thought that this story would go on for
ever and ever and ever and ever and ever..............
Well, we're getting to the end.....
Next room to show you guys is the sitting area in the second floor hall, just by the stairs.
This space is outside the two second floor guest rooms and I set it up to have a sofa with a club chair and a wicker chair as well as a little TV for the grandkids.
One day, when Connie and I were out and about, antiquing and just generally getting into all sorts of trouble.....we came across this woven rush bench!!!!!
Welllll....
it was love at first sight.
Needless to say.....
we started the age old song and dance of.....
"WHERE CAN WE PUT THIS?????"
Soooooo
I stuck it at the top of the stairs, just outside the master bedroom suite, across from the sofa and wicker chair.
We placed a pair of framed hand colored bird prints,  that we found in Quichee Vermont, over the bench.
Some folks are superstitious about having birds in their decorating, but I love them and use them all the time.
Whatever......
let's go back to the first picture, because I forgot to talk about it!!!!!
The red wicker chair is from Palecek, and is called the Sunroom High Back Chair.
(Note to my readers!!!!!
I am trying to put a link for this chair, but I'm using a mac computer, and it's not letting me do NOTHIN'!!!!!)
The lamp is a wonderful old piece of Tramp Art that we found and had electrified.
And of course had a custom shade made......
The sofa was slipcovered, as it was planned for the use of many little grubby bodies coming to visit.
The coffee table was made out of an old wooden sled.
I fell in love with this piece.
The metal runners had been removed, so was safe for the grandkids.
Behind the wicker chair are some more bird prints, 'cuz you guys know that I like to carry a theme.....
it makes it more fun to look for stuff.
AND IT'S ALL ABOUT LOOKING FOR STUFF!!!!!
Next to the wicker chair we placed a little willow Adirondack table that we found locally.
Willow furniture has always been a favorite of mine.

Now let's get back to my problems with this Apple computer!!!!!
I originally got it for my mom, but she wanted a larger desk top, so I kept it as a back up machine.
Welllllll.....
my PC is in the shop, so I'm writing my blog on this little baby.
When I load the pictures to my blog, rather than going where I want them, they insist on loading at the top of the screen, and then I have to drag them down to where I want the damn things to be.
On top of that irritation.....
last night I installed iTunes on it, and I can't figure out how to add to my playlist for my iPod.
I'm sinking and sinking and sinking, and it ain't doin' what I wants!!!!!
I looked at tutorials,
WELL.....
IT ISN'T WORKING!!!!!
I need my niece to help me.
Now I know why my siblings had chillin's!!!!
It's for the tech support.

You really made me laugh today with the "children for tech support" comment. My son is an IT guy...thank goodness there is one redeeming quality. Just kidding, but the knowledge does come in handy. Vikki in VA

This is such a pretty spot, I love it! Especially the color combination of pale blue and red. Are the walls blue or grey?
PS. My daughter works for Apple, thank God for her technical support!

I may use that red wicker chair idea somewhere! Love it. Prince Charming does not like wicker....But he's mellowing with age. About techie-kids...My #1 fav tech (daughter #1 in age order) moved to Austin in October. She's an accountant with a double major in I/T. So not much tech support now from her. Daughter #2 has a *new* boyfreind. Boyfreind is super-geek on the computer. Score. Hope he comes in handy soon as my computer is OLD. And I'm refusing to buy new because I'm being cheap.

I love the rooms you're showing - missing your wildlife excursions! (you need to buy a gun, do you have one? a shotgun perhaps? Come to TN we can go sporting clay shooting. I warn you though - I'm not too good - only about 50%)

We think alike, Betsy! Despite that old superstitions( of which I knew nothing) I have 24 antique framed English bird prints in my living room, and wouldn’t give them up for anything...
I do like the Palacek chair very much, because the color ‘pops’, but I don’t know how to incorporate informal wicker into a room’s design without if feeling forced. The best I could do is find a brown wicker footstool and marry it to a needlepoint top.

This is a wonderful sitting area, Betsy! I love the rug, willow table, rush bench, and the bird prints. I've never heard that superstition, but I wouldn't let that stop me from hanging those in my home. :) Everything combines beautifully in this space; you did a great job!

Do you use Live Writer to blog? It is wonderful! Love that red wicker chair!
The only superstition I've heard about birds is that if one flies into your house, there will be a death.
If you sit on a table you will marry a drunk came from that same source. :)

Love the rooms and the computer stuff made me laugh. I'll never forget the first time that I bought my daughter an IPod and the only computer in the house that wouldn't work with it was my Apple!

Beautiful room as always, I especially love that wicker bench and the rug.

My husband teaches computers and for that I am thankful! He loves the MAC computers. They make me crazy. I can never find anything.

If you use the Cloud you should be able to link the iPod and PC music. Is your computer now in your name or your mother's cuz it will only want to share/talk with your equipment. (so no one breaks copyright). Plug your iPod into the computer and if there is an iTunes icon, drag it onto the iTunes on the computer. I'm not sure if this will work, cuz I'm not a geek/Genius, but maybe it will :-)

Betsy, I love that you use red. I've heard many decorators say they don't prefer it; I think your uses of the color is stunning...and I'm anxious to introduce a bit (or more) of red into my decor. Your posts are the best! Thanx for your humor; each one brings smiles. Marilyn in Mt. Vernon, Virginia

I simply adore your style. I have loved your style ever since I first saw you in the 90s. Yes I am that old also! I wish I could copy you but it never turns out the same. You just have TALENT!

Your reference about the bad luck of birds reminded me of a story I read about Lucille Ball. She would not even stay at a hotel that had pictures of birds. She even had $90 a roll wallpaper ripped out of her foyer shortly after having it hung when she discovered it had small birds hidden in the pattern. Love your blog, love your style!

Because you purchased an Apple product you can just call apple support and they will walk you through anything and everything you want to know about your apple...they are so nice and patient, Mr. s. wanted help with his itunes, they set it all up and helped load songs...then step by step everything he needed and they even said call back if you need any more help...for 99.00 for one year after that you can call as many times as you like with someone to teach you how to do anything on your apple...loved that...sure hopes this helps...
