It's all in the DEATAILS!

Wow, talk about a gorgeous day here in Massachusetts.....
Not a cloud in the sky,
upper 70's to low 80's.....
So I took this picture of one of my peonies.....

If it were like this all the time, it would be as crowded as LA.
But we only get 2 days like this a year, so don't worry.....
(I don't know why I just wrote don't worry..... most of you don't live around here,
so you don't give a rat's behind about the weather or the crowding.....jesh)

Anyway.....
Back to the tour of my living room.....
We left off here...
And I threatened  mentioned that I would show you guys details of the room.
Soooooo....
Let's start with the coffee table!!!!!
It's a bench.....
I had it slip covered.......
I paid to have it slip covered.......
Oy, Oy, Oy.....
I didn't know then that I could do slip covers!!!!!
But the nice lady did a good job....
I love the look of a boxed pleat!
Yes, I do!!!!
Yes!! Indeedy!!!!!!!!!
It adds so much style to a piece with very little effort.
(Especially if someone else is doing the sewing!!!!!)
By adding a tape trim to the top, it brings the table to a whole different vibe than the original look.
When it gets dirty from my dainty feet...
(yes, yes, yes!!! I put my feet on the coffee table!!!!!!!)
I throw it in the washing machine and it comes out all clean again!!!!

That's the big advantage of slip covers, although to be perfectly honest....
I slip cover stuff cuz I like the way it looks!

I had the two small arm chairs slip covered in my beloved
cabbage rose fabric....
I like to add interesting details to the bottom edge of slip covers....
Scallops are fun, especially when I don't have to sew them....
And then I added a little button...

The other chair had large tassels on the back that we had to work around....
So there's a slit through which they can poke.....

The white slipcovers in the room came with the furniture when I bought it from Crate and Barrel.
The chairs aren't very comfortable, but they were well priced and I like the look of them, and no one sits in the living room but
ME ME ME!!!
Everyone else gravitates to the family room.

I love the living room the most after surgery.
The couch is comfortable, and I put my feet up on the coffee table/ottoman
and I get high on my pain killers.....
and I look around the room on a really good buzz, thinking to myself.....
I REALLY LOVE THIS ROOM!!!!
Almost makes the rotator cuff surgery worth it....
Almost,
Just almost.

I wonder what other operations I need.......

I love all of the details you put into everything. The trim on the table/bench slipcover, the scallops, tassels etc.

I had rotator cuff surgery a year and a half ago, so I hear you big time. I never thought I would be able to move again, lol. But it does get better. Just make sure you follow up with the rehab.....all of it!

I love this room! I wish I could decorate the way you do but then I'm not a big shot decorator. Seriously your style clicks with me. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery from your rotator cuff surgery. Surgery is no fun - I hope you have family to help you out and wait on you while you sit on your white couch in comfort!

I have had two shoulder surgeries and can understand the pain and discomfort but would feel much much better in this charming room.

Loving what you have is the secret to happiness! I too sit in my home and think, "I love this room!". I usually add, "Thank you Lord!"

I have followed your blog since the very first day. I have always admired your style and have clipped your articles out of magazines. If you walked into my home you would think that YOU had decorated some of my rooms!

Take good care of yourself!......... Ana Maria

I tore my rotator cuff really badly last summer and chose not to get surgery. It's pretty much healed on its own with very good results. But I did do acupuncture to help with pain and healing. Can't say I know about the surgery (except for the YouTube video I watched that scared the beejeebers outta me!) but I can relate to the horrible pain of the injury.

A speedy recovery to you! Your room is absolutely wonderful. Enjoy the healing that brings to you :-)

I'm your newest follower. Love your stuff, your cows, your humour. Unlike a previous commentator, if you walked into my home you would not think you had decorated any of the rooms. Most likely you would faint.

Your room is so lovely and light and bright. I would feel right at home there. And I'm loving the cows. Mooo. Robyn

I just "saw" you at Maison Decor, I should have guessed by your humor you were a MA girl! I just wanted to confirm your weather comment, as I sit here listening to the rain pouring down on this old roof. Can't wait to see what you add to the shop it's already so beautiful!

I agree so much with the importance of 'detail'. We built a new home to look old and detail was SO crucial to us! I also sew and Love to add special details like that scallop flounce and the trim you showed....others may not notice everything, but if YOU do, then it's important!

What a clever idea to slipcover a bench to use as a coffee table! And the top is padded, so it's comfortable for feet! I love the fact they they can be washed--we have pets in the home, and I couldn't live without washable slipcovers. My first time to your blog, and I'm loving it!

Love the ottoman and I agree that the box pleats give it some real style. The chintzes are so Sister Parish. A delightful look for this space. Thanks for sharing this week on BeColorful.

yes, that bench is darling with its cover, and honestly, i would not have bought it with the original fabric.

what's up with your title? is that a typo or a play on words that I don't get???
