Tropical Cottage Bedroom,

Welcome to my bedroom!!!!
Boy, there's a sentence I never thought I'd post on the internet!!!

This is my Florida room of sleep.
I chose a Cowtan & Tout fabric that has the feel of a cabbage rose print, but is full of tropical flowers.
(Once again, it's not until I load the picture on the blog, to talk about it, that I see all the boo boos. The seat cushion is upside down. The repeat of the fabric should flow over the top and down the side.
I'm NOT reshooting this.
At least I fluffed up the cushion before I shot the chair.)
I LOVE THIS CHAIR!!!!!
I got it from Scalamandre.
It's the perfect bedroom size.

This is my dressing table.

Note how the mirror is too high, so that when I'm seated at the table, I can't see myself?????
THAT WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT!!!

I love dressing tables, I try to put one in every bedroom I do.
I just think they're pretty.
It's so much fun to accessorize them.....

I don't wear perfume, it gives me headaches,
BUT
I love vintage perfume bottles.

These make me so happy, my toes curl just looking at them.....

Notice the special tortoise shell effect on the silver tray?
It took me 9 years to create this look!!!!!!
This is what happens when you don't polish nothin'!!!!
I really need to start polishing my silver.

The dressing table is split reed.

If you've been religiously reading my blog, you know it's one of my favorite forms of furniture.
When I found this in a junky antique store in Cambridge Ma, I couldn't believe my eyes.
I was one very excited decorator!!!!!
Here it is, just waiting for me to scoop it up and take it home!!!

This is a picture I snapped of the room, before I bought the house.

Here's the same view now.....

I changed a few little things......
Inside and out....

First, I rearranged where EVERYTHING went....
This was the first week, after I started to move in.....

I have so much more to talk about, but I spent all of today and yesterday taking pictures......
editing them in Picassa
editing them in PicMonkey
and then.....
watermarking them,
that I am bushed, and will continue later in the week.

I am going up to Massachusetts this week for my Mom's 91st birthday!!!
So I might be posting a little later than Thursday.
But I will get all my blog posts in,
'cuz I don't want to be losing the precious followers that I have painstakingly acquired!!!!

Later, Gator

Betsy, I love this room. Great fabric and we would not have noticed the chair cushion if you didn't mention it. Great dressing table. How nice to be able to step out of your room to the pool. I would do laps every day!

The fabric is the bomb diggity. I collect vintage perfume bottles and I sell them too. I find stoppers all the time and have started a collection of them as well. I have the headache from perfume too but looking at the pretty bottle that I can do.

Whoops! I think I am becoming a regular. Where in Florida is the cottage? I am late to this party. Maybe you wrote that in an earlier post, but I missed it. I do know I love that dressing table. I have a split reed plant stand/book shelf and love it, too. My mother-in-law has a fantastic collection of perfume bottles that are over 100 years old. I, too, get headaches from perfume, so, she is leaving them to her daughter. ):

Hi Betsy,
Another gorgeous vintage FLA room! I love that little dressing table, soooo worth hauling it to Florida. How the heck did it get all the way up north anyway? I'm so glad you brought it back to the perfect home!
By the way, your lovely dinning room is a feature this week at WIW. Come on over and grab a button!
Hugs,
Patti

I love the fabric in your bedroom. It make it look like a tropical paradise, especially looking out upon the pool. Love those floor to ceiling shutters, too. I collect perfume bottles, also.

Hi Betsy,
Your bedroom is so "Dreamy". I adore the fabric you have chosen for your room and the padded fabric headboard just brings the eye right to your amazing bed. I would not have noticed that the chair cushion was upside down..LOL I like it up side down...
Your bedroom is pure perfection.
Happy birthday to your Mom.
Have a sweet week full of sweet moments.

Betsy you are hilarious! Your posts are so much fun to read, and the fact that I get decorating advice and inspiration too are just icing on the cake. Love this room and I agree about split reed furniture, although I must admit I had no idea that's what it was called. I thought it was bamboo. But regardless it rocks as your little dressing table.

With your posts on your "Master" bedroom, you've really really had me thinking what I would do if I didn't share mine with a man. I'm sure I would make many "different" decisions. this is such a wonderful room that shows your style perfectly!

Your bedroom is so pretty, and if you hadn't have pointed out the upside down cushion,I would never have known. It must be your designers eye for detail. I only see the overall picture, and if it pleases me that's ok, even with the little boo, boos.:) Love perfume bottles too.
I have just popped over from House in the Roses.

I am so delighted to find your blog! I remember reading about your lake cabin in New Hampshire years ago in a magazine. I loved it and, when I visited New Hampshire later, I waved to you as we rode by the edge of the lake! Love your designs and the bedroom is great - cannot wait to become a follower!

Oh...I love this bedroom. This is my dream....a bedroom with french doors out into a lovely garden. I so want this in my own home. I'd have to put some doors in where my windows are and then create a garden.

All could be done with money and time.

This little cottage is so pretty.
