Cottage Master Bedroom

ON TO ANOTHER ROOM!!!!!
As I've told you guys, across from my study is my master bedroom.....

I used the same blue color for both rooms to create the feeling of a master suite.
Therefore, I used the same rug in both rooms.
The blue color choice started in the master bedroom.
I wanted to do a blue toile.
I always have liked the look of blue toile rooms,
and thought, with my new life, as a retired snow bird,
I would venture into the realm of simple color schemes.....
It's really pretty,
but I would not do it again,
as is evident in how I went native
 (back to multi-colored floral prints)
 in my study
Some folks are serene, simple color combo animals.....
some of us are multi-hued beasts!!!!!
I covered everything that wasn't moving in a  gorgeous linen rose toile from Brunschwig & Fils
The walls were upholstered in the fabric, as well as the headboard, draperies, half tester, small chairs and bed skirt.
The way to create a toile room, is to use one fabric on most of whats in the space, adding a few accent fabrics in carefully chosen placements.

according to Wikipedia.....
Toile de Jouy, sometimes abbreviated to simply "toile", is a type of decorating pattern consisting of a usually white or off-white background on which a repeated pattern depicting a fairly complex scene, generally of a pastoral theme such as a couple having a picnic by a lake or an arrangement of flowers.[2] The pattern portion consists of a single color, most often black, dark red, or blue. Greens, browns, and magenta toile patterns are less common, but not unheard of. Toile is most associated with fabrics (curtains and upholstery in particular, especially chintz), though toile wallpaper is also popular. Toile can also be used on teapots, beddings, clothing, etc. In upper-class (primarily American, but also northern European) society, toile is often seen on dresses or aprons used at such events as country-themed garden parties or tea parties.

My bidness partner, Kris, calls my bed a "Princess" bed,
'cuz of the half tester....
A half tester is like a part of a canopy....
It projects from the head of the bed.....
The details are what can add just enough pop to keep the simple  palette from lacking visual interest.....
The headboard had a soft colored contrast welt....
The half tester and drapery valances have a scalloped trim.....

I set my dressing table in front of the windows looking out to my terrace.....
 I found the chairs on
ebay!!!!
They were covered in vinyl....
If I were Amy Chalmers, of Maison Decor fame....
I would have painted the plastic with chalk paint!!!!
But I'm not Amy!!!!!
I'm Betsy!!!!!
So I had them recovered in more of the toile.....

I had this funky trim applied around the seats for a little bedroom glam!!!
My friends at Drape It did all the labor, because I didn't know then that...

I could do this stuff myself!!!!!

So this is just a taste of my bedroom.
Staying true to form, over the next week or two, I will go into nauseating
detail about everything in the room.

I must say this is my favorite room cuz I'm one of those "folks [that] are serene, simple color combo animals.....".

I especially like all the trim details. Very pretty room! Can't wait to hear more about it.

Oh I loved this room when I saw it and now I get to see more of the details when you point them out!! I think one day you will paint a vinyl chair...and then you will say, what took me so long?!

Your bedroom looks very serene and lush. I fight the need for multicolors because I do like a monochromatic look. Complimentary colors are in my blood though and I can also imagine touches of coral in your bedroom. Love the attention to detail.

I love your blue toile bedroom...because I also have a blue toile master bedroom that I have blogged about. It was the only time in my life I paid to have custom drapes made for our bedroom and bathroom. Expensive? Yes, but I would do it again. Our room isn't quite up to speed as yours - but then you are the awesome interior designer! I can hardly wait to see it in more detail.

I do love your style, sugah! I remember seeing your things in magazines back in the 80s. Since we retired from California to Idaho—yes, it was culture shock but hubs and I love it—I've scaled down from 5,000 s.f. to 1,800. Retirement age does that to ya, chick!! But I truly do love what you've done with your home. But I'll bet I'm funnier than you, sweetpea! ;-)

Hi Betsy,
Very lovely indeed, I think your bed is fit for a Queen..The blue rose linen fabric is so beautiful, every detail in both rooms is amazingly gorgeous. I think your half tester and bed is the diamond in the room and the center of attention, the big "Awww".. Your study and bedroom are very tranquil and peaceful.
By the way I'm a multi-hued beast" too LOL..
Have a sweet day, Elizabeth
