Anything for a Friend (Working for Free.....)

If you've been following my blog....
(and if you haven't, shame on you.....)
you know that I've been doing needle point on demand
for my buddy Kris.
I've done chairs in her living room.....
Monograms for her and her hubby
A chair in her upstairs hall....
A nice saying, that she forced me against my will to sew....
And then we came to her
dining room.......
She thought it would just be fine and dandy if
EACH FAMILY MEMBER
had their own....
NEEDLE POINTED CHAIR!!!!
Luckily she only has two children, or I'd still be sewing.....

We found wonderful
 gothicky
(I just made that word up!!!!)
looking chairs for a throne like effect for the king and queen of the house.
I had them covered in the same paisley velvet I used on the walls.
And then I came to the back.....
What to sew, what to sew......
Kris and Keith?????
His and Hers?????
Lord and Mistress?????
Payer and Payee?????
No No No!!!!
Kris had a gooder idea.
Mommy and Daddy.....
'Cuz that's their role and place in their home.
So being the obliging friend that I is,
that's what I done did.....
I did Kris's first, 'cuz she's my buddy.....
Then I did her better half.....
If you want to copy them, here are some close ups.

I used gold metallic thread for the lettering.

Then we came to her kids' chairs.....
They got smaller ones that sit in the corners.
Not that her kids have to sit in the corners.....
Just the chairs.
I think she lets the kids actually sit at the table....
She's a very enlightened Mommy.
So both of the smaller chairs can go with the kids when they grow up....
If that ever happens......
We're still waiting.......
And waiting......
And waiting.............
Guess what the oldest one's nick name is??????
Do you need a hint?????
It's a flower!!!!!
No, I'm not going to tell you!!!!!

Kris's youngest is a boy.
Well.....
Actually he's now a young man.....
Sort of.....
For privacy reasons I can't tell you his name.
Just in case you can guess, here's a blow up for the pattern.

I have a feeling that if Kris can think of another place for a needlepoint chair, she won't hesitate to let me know.
So that's if for now, campers.....

I can appreciate those oh so much! Started a HUGE needlepoint tote bag last night and have holes in my fingers already. It's gigantic! But easy stitching compared to the last project! And Fun!! Enjoy your stitching!

Love the chairs, how special! I don't know how you find the time to do all that?

Those chairs are fabulous and so, so, SO clever! Big points on these, Betsy. Love the font you selected for the needlepoint on the chairs. It is a perfect fit for the style of the chair. And yes, you are good and a good friend!

Love the home sweet home! These are all great...my hand is cramping just thinking about all that needlework, though. :)

This is such a great idea and I love catching up with what you post. I have done many needlepoint projects in the past but man, not only does it take a long time but is taxiing on my eyes. I think this same idea could be pulled off with paint on fabric. I am good at that! Thanks so much for your inspiration!

I love these chairs--the contrast between the fancy velvet upholstery and the formal Old English lettering or whatever it is and the very informal, 20th-century feeling of "Mommy" and "Daddy" is very funny. The Betsy Humor at work.
