Another Chapter of Kris's City Cottage Living Room....

Soooooo......
Continuing on
showing off
Kris's living room, lets move past the chest of drawers to the end of the room....
or the beginning of the room....
depending on your source of reference.....
As you come in from the hall.....
(again, let me point out,
 that you can't come in,
 you don't know her,
this is just a figure of speech.....)
the first thing you see is the grand piano.
Usually I hate these things in rooms.
They're big.....
barely used......
and difficult to decorate around.
But in this case, the room actually laid out well with the placement of this behemoth.
Kris loves the piano, 'cuz it gives her a nice big surface to show off more of her stuff.....,
She and I both love finials for accessories.
They create a nice focal point, due to their size and shape.
So.....
She learns to appreciate something by associating with me.....
I go away to Flerida.....
come back in the spring....
And magically....
through the wonder of ebay.....
items appear out of thin air!!!!!
It seemed necessary to have a dog on the piano....
hummmm.....
She found this wonderful pair of Victorian vases.
The feathers she collected at my house.

have A LOT of turkeys at my house.....
This is just a few of them, I can have over 21 at a time.....
The males think they are da bomb.....
This guy in particular.....
He be struttin' his stuff!!!!!
Walkin' like he own my driveway.....
 He da man!!!!!
I even have them in my trees.....
They love the crab apples.
(Wait....
Where was I????
This is a decorating blog.....
Not National Geographic...???!!!)
Back to the piano!!!!
Kris has a church collection bowl full of billiard balls.
We think that they are tres stylish!!!!
I found this wonderful floor lamp to set by the piano.
Who needs one of those little piano lamps.
We are bold decorators!!!!
I had my workroom make this funky lamp shade......
with some decorative trim I found.
If you ask me, and I know some one will...
I think I got it from Brunschwig & Fils.
So that's it for today, campers.
I plan on going to the grocery store for some cranberries.
I'm going to see if feeding the turkey's cranberries can cut out a step on Thanksgiving....

I adore pianos..I don't have one though. Yes, finials make a statement in decor, but the pool balls are fabulous, I totally love them!! Thanks for sharing.

I have been known to talk turkey. I understand.
There is nothing more inspirational than a blog that discusses pianos, turkeys, billiard balls and ebay with such aplomb and seeming cohesiveness! You are a maven, I tell you! A maven!

...and you make me look normal in comparison! I love that in a friend!

Love the bold floor lamp, and oh for the space to have a grand piano. I love your attitude about your resident turkeys as so many people just complain about them. That Tom Turkey is something else!

Lots of turkey courting going on!!!Beautiful Tom, what a show off and the ones in the tree-simply delightful! Love the room and maybe having a baby grand player piano?

I'm sure glad to see you didn't bash the piano (hee hee)..Cuz I too have a grand in my living room :-) But I don't put stuff on it. I play it everyday and I want to put the lid up so I get a lot of sound.

But I gotta say, all the things on Kris' piano really are pretty!

Another handsome room! Love the turkeys! And love the billiard balls. So different!

Though if one plays their piano a lot one might not decorate it due to the vibrations and our lid is down so the player can make a bigger sound when performing. In our home, the person who plays the piano plays at least two hours a day, and I agree with you, it is sad to see them sit. When we found this cottage we have now, the main thing was a spot for the piano.

Love the room, especially all the dogs. Btw, it looks more like a baby grand than a grand. Just sayin'...

I cannot believe you casually say that you have turkeys at your house. That is not normal. They are beautiful. That's just crazy....21 turkeys.

Those turkeys are pretty cute lawn ornaments, all right. I don't like it on my dinner plate, so the lawn is definitely bettah. I noticed a little shelf on the wall visible in the photo of the vase/feathers -- is that another of those bamboo pieces? I have been trying to find one for a long time.

Beautiful room. I too have a piano that is in my living room and though it isn't a grand piano it is also NEVER used other than to display lots of photos on the top of it ... LOL!
Love your turkeys...you sure have a lot of them! :)

I love your blog and all the information, and especially your personality. I think it would be very interesting to see a sketch of the floor plans with furniture placement of these rooms. Keep up the good work.

ahhhhhh to have a baby grand!!! I would put it in the kitchen if I had to!!!! I also play every day and would not be able to "decorate" the top of it.....
Loved your visitors...we have them too occasionally and those "toms" really think they are something special!!
