As promised.....
I will now continue the fast paced exploration of
Kris's (my bidness partner)
living room.....
Entering the room,
this is what faces you.....
(or me, as you can't enter the room,
'cuz you don't know her.....)
Let me give you more of an overall, so you can see where we are....
Oops.....
I didn't take one, so if you look at the picture below, the chest is on the same wall as the pair of club chairs, just outside of the view in this shot...,,,,,,
Lets take a closer look at the chest.....
It's a gorgeous empire piece.
I like putting chests in living rooms, as they are great storage pieces, and make a good place to set a lamp.
Especially if they are tall, like this one, then the lamp is up higher in the room, and casts a soft glow.
Here's the arrangement on the top....
Another combination of auction finds and ebay.
You may be surprised to see some dogs.....
I found this lamp on ebay and had it rewired with one of my custom lamp shades.
Poor Kris, she saved money on the lamp, only to have it sucked out of her pockets when I gave her the bill for the shade.....
Remember, we met when she hired me to do this room.
Now I don't charge her nothin', but I made up for it in the beginning.....
Just one more bird to pluck.....
(Don't tell her I said that, though.)
The rest of the stuff on this piece are her finds that she snuck into the house when I go to Florida in the winter.
Just a few more dogs......
Here and there.....
Next to the chest are a pair of Gothic hall chairs.
Now comes the part after Kris and I became BFF's and she got me running around in circles at her beck and call.
SHE LOVES NEEDLEPOINT!!!!!
She has had me make all sorts of chair covers in her home.
On this pair of chairs, I designed monograms for both Kris and her husband, Keith.
Then I needlepointed them.
I am a REALLY good friend.......
The bastards have different last names,
because Kris kept her maiden name,
so of course, the monograms HAD to be different.....
At least both of their first names start with a K.....
Over the chairs are.....
MORE pictures of dogs......
the majolica plates are a brown and green version of the same water lily plates I've collected for my home in Florida.
So, that's it for today's report from the design trenches.
The weather is crappy, and I've already eaten my popcorn snack,
so I guess I'll go back down to my dungeon basement,
and put another coat of paint on some more chairs for my niece, Miriam.
Or maybe I'll just go watch TV!!!!!

She must be a great friend for you to spend all that time on the seat covers. They do look fabulous though. Again, I love this room.
Wow, with all the work you have done for your friend, I could use a friend like you for my next door neighbor!
A girl can nevuh evuh have too many dogs, too much needlepoint, too many empire chests, too many plates, and too many tiny little fun chairs! Loved this. And those monograms stopped me flat in my tracks. Wow! Good job, Betsy!
XO,
Sheila
Such a warm and cozy space to enjoy each day... You have added such special touches for Kris and her family to always remember you by... Thanks for sharing.. Teresa

...i love it...all of it...blessings laney
You are now the first blog I go to! Love your decorating style. I find it hard to stay on track with my style when the mainstream cries out for the current fashion of design........does that mean....going forward like it or not? Keep me happy and continue on. Bobbie
Can I apply for the "job" of being your best friend in Fl? I live in Jupiter, and it cant be too far from you if you are in West Palm.....I dont love needlepoint,(you're off the hook, there) and I even sew myself and love chalk paint, although I've never done it myself. Tell me where to send my application!
