Now.....On to the decoratin'!!!!

This is my master bathroom......
It used to look like this.....
And this.....
And this.....

So I changed it!!!!!!
EVERYTHING was wrong with it.....
the toilet was next to the vanity, so the vanity wasn't very long.
I moved the toilet across the room to next to the door, giving me space for a 6 foot cabinet!!!!!
I changed the tub to a large shower stall
that took up less floor space than the tub that I would barley use.
Tubs aren't so easy to get in and out of,
and I am planning for my future decrepitude......
Since the shower takes up less room, I was able to add a linen closet!!!!
Yippee!!!!
More storage!!!!!
In the pictures above....that's the same corner of the room....

I drew up drawings for the vanity I wanted
and had it made in a local cabinetry shop called Kickspace
They're the same company that made my kitchen cabinets.....
and my mom and dad's kitchen cabinets.....
and lots of other stuff for me over the years......
I used the wallpaper from Brunschwig & Fils that matched the fabric in my bedroom.
The countertop is Carrara marble,
as are the small hexagonal tiles on the floor.
Here's the old view and new view side by side....
I took this picture at sundown, 'cuz I forgot to take this shot, so it's yellow from the lights.....

I brought the medicine cabinet with me from my home in Watertown.
It was one I had designed and had custom made using a Venetian mirror.
Here it is in my previous home....
I just couldn't leave it behind.

You can see that I took the little wall sconce too.
It was a gift from a friend.
I only had one.
ebay to the rescue!!!!!
I found a similar one! I was so excited to have created
A PAIR!!!
Then the wallpaper guy broke one......
oy!
oy!
oy!
I had to find two more and combine the pieces to create another one.....
I love them 'cuz they're similar but different....

The one on the right is the one I created out of two different lamps.....
The one on the left is the one the wallpaper guy put up with that really pretty plastic washer.......
oy oy oy oy
And of course, I had some more lampshades made to match my bedroom.
Another reason I love these lights is because they are more of the same glass vibe as my vanity lamps.....

I really love my toilet seat.
I really need to get a life......
It's from Water Works.
It cost a lot of moulah....
I have really weird priorities.....

So, anyway.....
link up below if you have any questions, and you are brave enough to deal with my answers.

Your bathroom rocks and I pity the poor wallpaper guy who broke your sconce - did you unleash your wrath upon him?!

The Venetian medicine chest is the best - no wonder you moved it with you.

What a pretty bathroom!! I love how you changed the layout~seems so obvious, but so many of us just keep all the fixtures in the same spot. I enjoy the back story of it too. You know how to tell a good story Bets.

Great layout! You made some awesome changes!

Of course this is a foolish question, but I am ready to incur your wrath just so I can satisfy my curiosity. Is the silver U shaped thing sticking out of the toilet seat a handle so that you can lift it? Yes, I do live in a hut in the middle of nowhere. That's why I read your blog so that I can see how fabulously glamorous people live.

It makes me feel a bit better that I am not the only one who bases decisions on her future decrepitude.

I liked your toilet seat so I went to Waterworks to check out the details with the intent to purchase one. All I can say is that you are REALLY sitting pretty!

Gorgeous bath and so, so feminine. My sister once said that you could tell a man didn't live in my house because it was so "girly". Damn right! :)

Hi Betsy,
Just the most beautiful bathroom. I love the lighting and the venetian mirror you had made into a medicine cabinet, was genesis. It's romantic and functional. The new layout makes better sense. When we moved into our house 2.5 years ago, in the master bathroom there was a "new hardware store vanity" I had it removed and a custom one made by my cabinet guys..I will have to post the bathroom I have been waiting because the new molding is still being worked on and I have to paint it. As you say Oy vey!
Very cool potty....I like its vintage vibe.
Have a sweet day, Elizabeth

OMG! This is truly making me miss my 1st and 2nd homes. So beautiful. (I'm not patting my back, honest.) Everything is just so soft and pretty. And my husband doesn't care how I decorate, as long as his office is masculine. Thanks for sharing Paula Lusk
