Betsy's Rant #1762

People who don't live up to their word drive me
nuts!!!!!
I'm not going to mention any names.....
but
I paid a blog designer for a blog design,
'cuz
that's what blog designers are supposed to do.....
After lots of back and forth, I finally got her to do what I wanted.
She was not the easiest to work with, and she did some strange stuff.....
like posting the new design before we had it all worked out.
Soooooo.....
while it was under design, it could be seen.
That's like going to a party, and having the hairdresser do a foil wrap for your color right there in the middle of the host's living room.
I was not amused.
But I kept my calm, and worked with her till it was what I wanted.
She kept some of the images of the fonts used, in her Photobucket account.
She wouldn't let me have them.
She wanted control of them.
I asked her what would happen if she let her account lapse???????
She assured me that that would NEVER HAPPEN!!!!!

Soooooooo.....
Guess what happened!!!!!!
Can you guess?????
Give it a try.....
THAT'S RIGHT!!!!!
SHE LET IT LAPSE!!!!!
So,
everywhere that there was a word, such as the menu at the top of the blog,
and my links to twitter and Facebook and Pinterest
WAS REPLACED BY A PHOTOBUCKET ICON

Soooooo.....
I had a line of these marching across my blog just below my header.
And then they were sprinkled throughout my side bar.

Amy, from Maison Decor, called me a few days ago to alert me to this situation.
She had used the same designer, and her blog had the same problem.
When we clicked on over to the designers website.....
GUESS WHAT SHE HAD POSTED!!!!!
Can you guess?????
Her blog design business is on hiatus until further notice.
Sooooo
Amy wrote her an email, writing to the contact address she had listed,
and of course SHE DIDN'T RESPOND.
Sooooooo.....
today I replaced the Photobucket icons with the best I could do using Blogger's template.
IT LOOKS CRAPPY,
but at least my navigation menu at the top of my blog is visible again.
I Googled how to add buttons for following through Facebook and Twitter and Pinterest.
I feel very smart for following how to do it.
So I did it.
BUT IT LOOKS CRAPPY.

I need to find a new blog designer.
If anyone knows one that they like, please leave a comment.
I'm sure that some of my readers have used the same designer that I did, and have experienced the same issue.

Sooooooo
after not writing for a few weeks,
what do I do?????
Do I write about design?????
NO I DON'T.
I just use you guys for a venting platform.
I NEEDED TO VENT MY SPLEEN!!!!!

Whew,
well, now I feel better.
I'm back in Massachusetts, and the snow is halfway up my windows.
(while I was gone, one of my bookshelves gave way.....)
I left Flerida yesterday.
why why why why why???????
I know my parents appreciate my return,
but...
JEESH!!!!!

On that note,
Latah, Gatah

(she even screwed up my signature)
See?????
It's the cursed Photobucket icon.

You are a great daughter to leave warm Florida for the million inches of snow in Mass!!!!! Hang in there!!!!

What an ordeal. I would be tempted to name names, especially if this is repeat behavior.

Sorry about your book shelf. =(

Try to stay warm. Whiskey helps.

I'd call my service provider and see if they can recommend anyone. You are a kinder person than I would be. I don't feel that she deserves to be anonymous.

I am awaiting my son's return from Boston...driving. :(
Terrible about the blog designer. How do we protect ourselves from people like that? What if she restarts her business and others get taken by her. I hope she refunds your money.

I agree, I would be naming names!

Hi Betsy, You don't know me, but I've been following your blog for a couple of years now. I LOVE your decorating style, and your writing always makes me laugh. :-D I'm really sorry about what happened with this blog designer. I can recommend someone to you -- I hope this isn't the person you just used. Her name is Linda and she blogs at www.lifeandlinda.com. She's re-designed several blogs that I know of, and I believe she's as honest as they come. Some of the bloggers who have used her are Kitty at "Kitty's Kozy Kitchen", Babs, at "Upstairs, Downstairs," and Barbara at "Two Birdies and a B." You can check out their blogs to see if you like Linda's designs; they're all on Blogger. Good luck getting things straightened out -- I sure hope you get your money back!

Yes, I am also suggesting Linda at www.lifeandlinda.com. We blog back and forth and she has designed many blogs.....very nice lady!!! Also, my good buddy Deb at www.marionberrycottage.com, she helps me with all my snags, she is a whiz on the computer and has a good eye for design. She has designed all my banners and has made corrections on my blog, etsy sites, and my website. Bunny at B. Catherine Designs did my website.

Sorry about the bookcase and the snow........hugs.....

Oh wow, Betsy, that's terrible! Even in these modern days, I prefer to contract with someone who I have met IN PERSON! Good job on your fixes- I wish you a "speedy recovery"!

Why in God's name would you not publish this horrible person's name? I would drag her through the streets by her hair, naked, for all the world to see and know her.

Eeek! What a nightmare - definitely not bullying, it's a lesson in business for everyone. There is no reason for her to host your fonts, you should own them if you paid for blog design! How very unprofessional.
