Little Details Make Me Happy

Sooooooo......
last night I was drinking my glass of wine.........
And I looked over to my left, and loved the vignette it created while I watched the
 Real Housewives of Hell!!!!!!!
So I had to run and grab my camera, because I just loved the way all the greens worked together.
Then I thought.......
"Betsy.....you need to write a post about how all the greens go together while you drink wine!!!!!!!!!"
So this is what I'm doing.
obviously I love green.....
The little cabbage leaf plate is what I use for a coaster, as I sit and watch TV and scarf down my dinner.
It's Wannopee Pottery, and I have a whole collection of them hung on walls and spread around the house,.
The little green box that's in the background of the vignette has a rose on its lid, and a chip on its corner.
So that you could see it.....I took another shot of the vignette from a different viewpoint this morning, because that's the wonderful blogger that I is!!!!!
I've had this box since my 20's, it's green milk glass and I love it.
I DIDN'T CHIP IT!!!!!
This is what can happen when you are too lazy to clean your own house.........
I have a set of tiny multicolored dishes from Japan.
I use the green one to hold my pills that I have to take.
BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY!!!!!
As a child of the 60's, I am proud to be on so many drugs!!!!!
And last but not least is the glass that holds my wine....and my water.....and my milk.
THAT'S RIGHT.....MILK!!!!
I drink a glass every night before I go to bed.
Lactaid Skim Milk!!!!
YUM!!!!!
Livin' large in my 60's!!!
So, my advice to you is to drink wine and skim milk and create vignettes by grouping items with a similar color or theme together.

But I think the most important lesson to take away from today's decorating session is:
Drink wine and milk.....not necessarily in that order.....

On that note,
Latah, Gatah.....

Oh, wait.....
I don't want to forget the green accents in my lamp.
scroll back up and notice the base, lampshade trim and leaves around the flower.....

The lesson I take away from this is to live with what you love and to group like items together ... especially items that make you happy. (you know that I LOVE the rose stuff!)

I turn 60 next week and have begun drinking a glass of red wine every night. I'm entitled but I swear it is for my heart so I don't have to take all the freakin' pills I'm suppose to. As for the milk... no thank you unless you put a lot of Nestlé's chocolate powder in it. Do they still make that stuff? Love the vignette and yes, things do look better with wine.

Another great post. I ordered your book and it came yesterday, I am totally enjoying it. And you are right, everything is better with a glass of wine.

My 2yr old twins have been creating vignettes around the house that really haven't been pleasing my eye. I bet wine would make my house look lots better. Lots of wine.

I was a teenager in the 60's so ah...I can relate. In fact our generation was a psychedelic vignette. lol Funny how after a glass of wine you see things in an entirely new perspective. And that's a good thing.

I love this post and the first pic is perfect. However, I'm looking for the lampshade to see its trim! I think we need more pics. :)

I really liked the first shot when you were whining...um drinking wine! Love the lamp but you didn't show enough of it. Please show it in its entirety. I love green too!

I have just entered your decade, and like the anonymous reader above, i also treat myself to red wine. AND dark chocolate. You gotta take care of your heart! The only way I could drink a glass of milk before bed is if it were accompanied by a piece of chocolate cake or a brownie, thereby negating any health benefits! I also love green.....and turquoise....and coral......and yellow. Hey, that could be why I collect Fiesta!

You crack me up. Be careful that your writing doesn't outshine your decorating talents or else we could lose you to a literary blog. Love the decorating and love the humor. Thanks!
