now that I've shown you the floor plan for the living room, let me show you the antiques we've found so far.
Connie wanted a more contemporary look than we've done in the past, so I'm mixing antiques with modern for an eclectic style.
I like to start with the antiques when doing a new space.
They can set the tone of the whole room, and then I can choose the modern things to work with the old.
Connie picked me up at my house and the two of us drove down to South Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach.
This is a couple of blocks of side by side antique stores, and you can pack in a full day of antiquing without having to drive to any other location.
We first hit my favorite store, where we ended up buying all the antiques we found.
This business has two locations one block apart,
so if you go, make sure to see both.
They have an outside area under a canopy that houses their garden pieces.
First we found a pair of console tables made out of old concrete balustrades with stone tops added.
You can see one in the shot above.
And we fell in love with the covered concrete urns too.,
Here's a tear sheet shot from the antique store.
They are going on either side of the built in bookcase.
We also got the urns to go on top of them.
Connie wants to go for the look of bigger accessories and fewer accessories.
I really will!!!!!
We left this shop and started working our way down the street.
When we hit the next James and Jeffery store,
we found the other pieces we bought that day.
This round table that will go next to one of the sofas.
Right by this table in the same store was a pair of old Baker Italian style arm chairs that were the perfect size to tuck in by the sofas.
Here's the floorplan with labels on it, so you can understand a little better what I'm doing.
As you know I've lost what little mind I ever had.....
I thought I had taken shots of this house before the closing.
I couldn't find the pictures though.....
AND THEN I FOUND THEM!!!!!
I can now show you how the door in the bookcase works.
Here it is with the door closed.
It looks like a regular built in bookcase.
I am going to change the details of the columns to make it a little less fancy.
My worry is that since I won't do this till next year,
I am afeered that Connie and Chris will be used to it by then,
and not want to change it.
Here it is with the door a little bit open.
A secret door!!!!!
A master suite immediately off a living room can be awkward.
This is a very clever way to handle it, and I wasn't the one to think of it!!!!!
That's it for today, class.....
It's finally over 32 degrees and I am going to go out for my walk now.
Next post, I will show you the new furniture we bought.
(When I say "We", I mean Connie!!!!!)
On that note,
