Oy Vey!!!!!
The folks who read my blog probably run with scissors,
and...
ride a bike without a helmet
and...
cross in the middle of the block.....
BECAUSE
they can't follow instructions!!!!!!!!
I am going to put off choosing the winner of my fabulous
give away, because the only one who entered the contest properly is Amy Chalmers, and I can't really pick her as a winner (and Amy isn't too happy about this) because everyone would think that I was playing favorites.
Sooooooooooooooo............I am extending the time to enter until next Thursday, when I will announce the lucky guy.
For those of you just tuning in......
this is a give away for some great digital scrapbooking software, called My Memories.
Check out my blog post to see some of the great things you can do with it.
NOW.....
YOU MUST BE A FOLLOWER TO WIN!!!!!!
Everyone who entered (other than Amy) hadn't signed up as one of my beloved and cherished followers.
This is non-negotiable.....
I am a meany.....
I want more followers and I am going to get me some
one way or another!!!!!
Lets go over the rules again, if you haven't entered and still want to;
choose your
favorite
digital paper pack or layout, then comment down below telling me
which
ones you liked.
I
will tell who the lucky winner is on Thursday.
Just
remember, if you don't win, you can still get a discount by clicking
on the
coupon on
my sidebar at the right, and enter this code for the
discount...STMMMS1372
It's best to copy and paste the code for
accuracy, at
least that's what My Memories suggests.
Now.....
If you already left a comment on last weeks blog post,
you just need to become a follower of this blog, no
grudges held,
grudges held,
no hard feelings, no sore egos, no injured pride, really...everything is JUST fine.
Whew!!!!!
Now, lets get to some decoratin'!!!
Once again, Blogger is messing up the line spacing in
the middle of one of my posts.
AARRGGGGG!!!!!
Once again, Blogger is messing up the line spacing in
the middle of one of my posts.
AARRGGGGG!!!!!
Today I am going to finish up the story about the Cape
Cod decorator show
house from 1998.
There was a little bathroom off the bedroom that I
wasn't really thrilled to do.
June and I considered just closing the door to the space
and ignoring it, but the powers that be (were?)
wanted it decorated too, so we girded our respective
loans....
(meaning, June let me figure it out)
and tackled the nasty space.
Since this was a showhouse, practicality wasn't a high priority.
As a matter of fact......
It had no priority at all.
Soooooooooooooo
This is what we ended up with.....
Boston Globe Design Magazine
We took the toilet out!!!!! (plugging up the hole, so no lovely smell of sewer gas should add it's distinctive flavor to the rooms ambiance.)
(Don't worry after the showhouse we had it re-installed).....
Where was I....
Oh, yeah,....
We took the toilet out to make room for some good decoratin' stuff!!!!
Like a pretty chair!
Because everyone knows...
Betsy's rule on showhouse decorating:
Chairs photograph better than toilets!!!!!
This is the before shot.....
I posted the finished picture first, so that's what would show up in other blogs, but I really should have posted the before first.
Because everyone knows....
The before comes before the after!!
the lovely before shot. PUT DOWN THE TOILET SEAT!
The pictures were hung from vintage looking glass knobs.
( OMG...I've been trying to think of something interesting to hang over my guest bath shower/tub..... This is a senior head slap moment.....I'm going to do this picture treatment!!!! YAY!!!! Seeeee....If I hadn't been writing this blog, I wouldn't have been going over these old pictures, and I NEVER would have remembered doing this!!!!!)
It's a really nice way to frame a print or water color. Use a stiff white board for a backing, cut it to the finished size you want and paint it the color you want the matt to be. Have a piece of plexie cut the same size. Drill small holes at the four corners. Sandwich the artwork between the two and attach the whole shebang together with the little plastic flowers mirror guys use to attach mirrors to a wall.
like these.....
Then hang the piece with either grosgrain ribbon or a small chain from knobs like these....
Jeesh.....
I'm sharing some really choice stuff with you guys.
Then.....
we had to figure out what to do with the sad little worn out sink...
Sooooooooooo
We did what any seasoned decorator would do....
WE COVERED IT UP AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!!
Boston Globe Design Magazine
So that's today's story.
I didn't get many questions this week, so I will combine last weeks overflow with this weeks new ones for next weeks OY YEY!!! Q&A!!! TUESDAY.
Don't forget to enter the @#$ contest!!!

Betsy, I like Dreaming of Sunshine at My Memories. I AM a follower, otherwise I wouldn't have seen your little scolding of the non-direction following fans! Lol. I didn't enter before but would love to have some digital scrap software...I do tons by hand and all those supplies take up so much room!!
Thanks Betsy, have a terrific weekend.
Sherry
P.S. Who wants to see the toilet, anyway!?
I enjoy your blog. i am not a blogger or a follower, but ...Amy should win something!
She should be honored for her following your rules to the letter.
I am not Amy : )
Dee
Hey Betsy,
You told me to write you and refer to the email i sent about my mantel issues, so i guess you meant here??? Or is there another place i should write you, obviously i'm not that computer savvy, or too literal or something.
Anyway, beautiful bathroom makeover, toilets are overrated anyway, who needs em!
I was 99% sure i was following you, but when i look at the blogs i follow right now, i don't see you there... or Amy, and i know i followed her! so blogger is really weird right now, or i'm just crazy ... or both...
Cindy
I'm with Dee, I think Amy should win.....just sayin'
I forgot something.......I might bust out in a Lucy Ricardo cry from waiting for my FREE decorating advice.....
the Other Betsy
I just checked, and you ARE TOO a member!!!!!
Well no wonder the shot looked so good! No ugly wugly toilet! And thanks for sharing the good stuff *winks* I appreciate it...Also I don't even know Amy but she really should win because simple directions really aren't that hard to follow....just sayin' Vanna
Yay! Everyone thinks I should win!!!! Thanks Vanna, Dee and Shopgirl! But I agreed to a do over....hey I loved how you did those pictures...that might be the answer to how to decorate my piano area...now I would just need to figure out what to put on the top of the piano that would look good. So funny how you even THOUGHT of taking out the toilet!! Form over function~I agree.
Yeah - Amy should win:)! I signed up being a follower wrong at the very beginning of your blog (I was so embarrassed when I DID figure it out:) And you are just, well, I've run out of words (my husband would burst out laughing at THAT one:) to describe the solutions you come up with for difficult, boring, and sometimes, scary rooms:) and most the time with repurposed items, garage sale finds and such. ANYBODY can 'decorate' with a huge budget - what I will always be impressed with is the person who can create rich and beautiful interiors on a shoestring budget. This bathroom - with the picture solution - sigh . . . and putting those perfume bottles with the fringe hanging over the sides - inspiring.
OK, I am a follower. I like the Snowy Day pack at MyMemories.com. I am a paper scrapbooker, never used digital but would love to try it! (But I also think Amy should win!)
Syndi
I posted a comment and does not appear for some reason..so here goes again and please excuse this if it is a duplicate....
Hmmm...do not know what happened. I am a follower via email..Have been...
I love the way the bathroom was done..Yes, hate the look of the toilets, but unfortunately, must have them, so I went to great lengths to make certain that each toilet in the bathrooms in my new home were separate from the vanity areas behind doors...(with the exception of my teeny powder room. I love having chairs and benches in the bathrooms also..
Have a great day!
I am a follower, and I am attracted to the Dreaming of Sunshine
pack, because I live in Western Washington, where we have more
than our share of grey days, and rain, and I cherish winter days with sunshine.
Enjoy your blog, and have been getting inspirations. Vicky
Love the Attic Treasures kit! And love how you did those pictures...inspiration!
I like EXHALE ... thank you for the inspiration!
Thanks for sharing the picture framing idea. I like the
My Colors Scrapbooking supplies.

I like the Timeless Quickpages DesignZ by DeDe. But more importantly I loved the photo of the "after" bathroom. WOW!
Pretty glad to know you put the toilet back in ;-) (I have nightmares of trying to find bathrooms in an unknown building...only to finally find the bathroom and there's no toilet! LOL! I think your photo might have entered into my psyche at some point in the past....haha!)
I love the love bugs package. and i love your blog:))
I like the Ocean Jewels Pack for the colors alone! And I've been a follower since the very beginning! Keep up the great work!
I love the Winter Rouge Collection, just my style!!!Love seeing all your past work too.
I love the Winter Rouge Collection. Love you and your blog, and I love seeing all your previous work and look forward to all your future projects.
I love the Heritage line and especially: Calendar 2012 Songs Of Time! Just beautiful work you do!!!!!
OY VEY!!! I am a subscriber & did follow your instructions. What happened? Love, your blog!!! Judy Morano
It's me again. Please don't hollar at me, I really like you. I forgot what I chose last time I entered, but I'll go with Creme De La Creme. Did I spell it properly? Love ya. I'll sign with my real name as I don't know what to do with the Profile stuff so I had to select Anonymous but I'm not! Judy Morano
Hi Betsy, Enjoy the humor and decorating inspirations on your blog. I signed up as a follower and I would like Vintage Elements. Connie
I'm enjoying all your, posts, but haven't left a question, yet. Our house was built in 1980 and anything that I'd ask you about, I know will be BIG BUCKS projects, unless you have a magic wand. :) We
are to the point of needing to completely re-do the baths and kitchen. Oh, BTW I'm a follower, but since I don't do scrapbooking, I didn't enter your generous giveaway. Hope you get lots of followers entering...this time, and good luck to everyone.
Babs
Betsy, I finally figured out how to become a "follower". Boy, am I red-faced....it was so easy. I sent you an email yesterday letting you know I was having problems. Anyway, just wanted to say again how much I enjoy your blog and am looking forward to upcoming posts.
I don't scrapbook but it looks like fun. Good luck to everyone. Bette Jo
Zoobilee Zoo is my favorite!!!!!
